Simon Curvers studied biology (specialized
in biotechnology) at the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH
Aachen). Subsequently he graduated with a PhD from the
Institute of Biotechnology at the Research Centre of Juelich
(Prof. Wandrey). Simon Curvers developed during his PhD a
bioprocess for the recombinant production of chymotrypsinogen
B with the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris. The
work included the scale up of the process to a 300L pilot
bioreactor.
Simon Curvers builds together with Tibor
Anderlei the executive board of AC Biotec and is head of
project management, finances and business
development. The core competences of
Simon Curvers are development, optimisation and application of
fermentation processes. Furthermore his knowledge comprises
the areas of molecular biology and downstream
processing.
